Yes, his excuses were ingenious and he himself seemed a ghost from a bygone era.
But now his son, who is probably also called Rick, comes back – he must be his son, because otherwise Ruzzi would have several hundred mailboxes – and who can blame him, tells the same story as his wayward father.

Despite all the sentimentality, the same applies here: Do not answer, never send documents, these would be used without restraint by the scammers, who make money out of everything, in order to promote other crimes or make them possible in the first place.
